Kloster and Holmsland are known for a strong club life. At its heart is Holmsland Sogneforening, a community association that over the years has been behind hundreds of events, large and small, in the area.
There is of course also Holmsland Gymnastik- og Ungdomsforening (opens in a new window), where activities include football, badminton, gymnastics and floorball. And then there is the shooting club, the kayak club, the hunting association, a local history society and much more.
What all the associations have in common is that new members are very welcome.
Holmsland Brugsforening
The co-op society (Brugsforeningen) is responsible for the overall running of Brugsen, the supermarket in Kloster. Part of Brugsen’s income comes from delivery runs, made twice a week by volunteer drivers.

Holmsland Gymnastik- & Ungdomsforening
HGU was founded in 1888. As well as gymnastics, the club organises football, handball, kayaking, floorball, badminton and much more.

Holmsland Idræts- og Kulturcenter
The sports hall opened in 1982 and has since been extended with a gymnastics centre, a fitness centre and a fine multi-purpose hall that is often hired out for parties and events.
Holmsland Klit Golfklub – Søndervig
The golf club has more than 800 members and is a member of Dansk Golf Union. The course lies between Kloster and Søndervig, with Lalandia as its neighbour. Next to the course is Golf Café, which is open to everyone and also takes bookings for parties.

Holmsland Lokalhistorisk Arkiv
Lokalhistorisk Arkiv covers the area that made up Holmsland Municipality until 2007. The archive is based at Holmbohjemmet, where the volunteers meet every Monday morning and, among other things, digitise archive material, which is published on arkiv.dk (opens in a new window).

Holmsland Skytteforening
Holmsland Skytteforening is based in the basement of the sports hall, where the shooters meet every Tuesday evening. The club has more than 40 members aged from 7 to 70+.

Holmsland Sogneforening
Holmsland Sogneforening was founded in 1997. Its aims include supporting other associations and linking them together. The community association is also often the area’s voice in dealings with the authorities.
Kloster Cykelklub
Kloster Cykelklub goes for a brisk ride every Tuesday and Thursday at 18:00 from Æ Pold. In the 2024 season there are rides for both road bikes and mountain bikes. The membership fee is DKK 250, and in return your entry fees for several local cycle races are paid.

Klosters Unge Kvinder
About six times a year, young and youngish women from Holmsland meet to strengthen local ties and make new friends. They take turns arranging a cosy evening, which in the past has been yoga, tapas, bingo, bowling, Segway, horse riding, film night, Christmas crafts and much more. The price is DKK 300 for a season.
In 2025 the club has almost 50 members aged 23–53.

Støtteforeningen for Holmsland Skole, SFO og Børnehus
The support association backs the activities at the school, the after-school club (SFO) and the childcare centre (Børnehuset). Among other things, it helps make sure the schoolchildren get proper granny-style cooking once a month. Every year, all schoolchildren and their families are invited to Store Badedag at Hvide Sande Svømmehal.
